'Breaking Bad,''John Carter,' And More: This Week On Video

This week on The Video Score, the best show currently on television releases some of that irresistible "blu" stuff. Plus, the flawed, but under-appreciated "John Carter" sees the light of day.

Breaking Blu

"Breaking Bad: The Complete Fourth Season" (2011)

Story:
As Walter White's conflict with the maniacal drug lord Gustavo Fring grows deadlier and deadlier, he must decide how far he is willing to go to save his own life and what that will ultimately cost him. The fourth season of AMC's hit show played out in an incredible slow burn that made for the series' best season yet.

On the Disc:
The season four collection features uncensored episodes, deleted and extended scenes, and commentaries on all 13 episodes. If the season wasn't a big enough yuck fest, the Blu-ray comes with a gag reel, "Better Call Saul" commerical and Gale Boetticher's karaoke video.

Act of Valor

"Act of Valor" (2012)

Story:
An elite team of US Navy SEALs race against the clock to stop a planned terrorist attack on U.S. soil in this film inspired by actual events, which also features a cast of active-duty soldiers.

On the Disc:
The "Act of Valor" disc contains interviews with actual military personnel, behind-the-scenes featurettes and a director's commentary.

John Carter

"John Carter" (2012)

Story:
Civil War veteran John Carter (Taylor Kitsch) was still haunted by the violence he witnessed on the battlefield when he inexplicably awoke on the distant planet of Barsoom (Mars). Upon learning that the inhabitants of Barsoom are bracing for a major conflict and that war appears inevitable, John finds out that love is a rare commodity on the Red Planet, and summons the courage to be the hero the Martians have been hoping for.

On the Disc:
"John Carter" offers an extensive look behind the scenes at the making of the film and also includes deleted scenes with optional director commentary and bloopers. One of the deleted scenes of note is an alternate opening.

Journey 2

"Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" (2012)

Story:
Intrepid young explorer Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson) traces a mysterious distress signal to a remote island that isn't on any map, and he embarks on a daring rescue mission while encountering a vast array of mythological creatures in this follow-up to 2008's Journey to the Center of the Earth.

The disc for "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" comes with deleted scenes and a gag reel, as well as, a featurette called "Are You Strong Enough To Survive Mysterious Island."
